(Atlantic) The Atlantic baseball team begins post-season play at Harlan this evening. The Trojans enter the contest with an 8-18 record, and Harlan is 23-8. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m., and we will have coverage on KS95.7 F.M.
Atlantic Head Coach Nathan Block says the team went through a rough stretch in June; however, as of late, they are playing some of their best baseball.
The Trojans’ team batting average has steadily improved over the last several weeks. Atlantic enters this substate contest tonight with a team batting average of .249. Kale Jensen leads the team with a .390 average, Sawyer Tarrell is hitting .308, and Keston Schmitt is hitting .300.
Atlantic and Harlan split a regular-season doubleheader at Atlantic. The Cyclones won the first game 13-1, and Atlantic took the nightcap, 6-4, back on June 1.
Coach Block mentioned that Harlan is hitting the ball well right now. The Cyclones enter the contest with a team batting average of .318. Colton Schneider leads the offense, hitting .453; Colton Kjergaard, .351; Cade Nelson, .319; and Jonas Reynolds, .314.
The winner of the Atlantic-Harlan contest will play the winner of the Glenwood vs Denison-Schleswig game on Monday night.
