(Red Oak) The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday morning approved Resolution 2026-28 to create a temporary Budget, Finance, and Human Resources Clerk position not to exceed one year.
Montgomery County Supervisor Mike Olson read the resolution. He stated that, according to the resolution, Montgomery County has identified an increasing need for centralized oversight for countywide budgeting, financial administration, personalized assistance, policy compliance, and Human Resources support across departments.
The Board of Supervisors may review the position after six months and again after one year to determine whether it should transition to a permanent role, based on operational needs, performance, and budget considerations. This temporary hire will not exceed 30 hours per week from the start date of employment. The supervisors will decide on the compensation for this position. This new hour will work under the Board of Supervisors and work in conjunction with the auditors and other county offices as necessary. The resolution became effective upon its adoption.
Supervisor Chair Charla Schmid says the Auditor and Treasurer’s Office needs extra help.
Supervisor Mike Olson thanked those who provided feedback during the discussion process.
Supervisor Bryant Amos says he likes the fact that this new position answers to the board of supervisors.
Alex Burton appreciates that the position is temporary for one year. Although the feedback he has received has been against the hiring, he says, unfortunately, he could not vote in favor.
The resolution passed 3-2. Supervisors Mike Olson, Charla Schmid, and Bryant Amos voted for the resolution. Alex Burton and Mark Peterson voted against.
The Supervisors did not set the salary at their meeting this morning.
