(Emerson) At approximately 6:55 a.m. on Tuesday, the Red Oak Fire Department was requested by Emerson Fire/Rescue for mutual aid to a large shop fire in the 400 block of Howland Avenue.
Due to the size of the incident, multiple Mills County fire agencies were also dispatched to provide additional apparatus and manpower.
Responding agencies included Emerson Fire/Rescue, Red Oak Fire/Rescue, Silver City Fire/Rescue, Malvern Fire/Rescue, the Mills County Sheriff’s Office, Mills County Communications, Montgomery County Communications, MidAmerican Utilities, Emerson Public Works, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the structure. The extent of the damage and total loss was not immediately known at the time of release.
As of the latest update, Emerson and Malvern Fire Departments remained on scene conducting salvage and overhaul operations.
No injuries have been reported.
