(Carlisle) #2 Carlisle exploded for 15 runs in the first two innings and shut out Atlantic 17-0 in Four innings in a non-conference softball game at Atlantic on Friday.
The Wildcats erupted for 17 runs on 17 hits in a dominant offensive performance. Mallie Stoner earned the win, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits, striking out two, and issuing no walks. Marcella Krambeck took over in the fourth inning and continued the shutout effort, surrendering only one hit and no runs.
At the plate, Kaylee James highlighted the Wildcats’ attack with a solo home run that cleared the left-field fence. Stoner also led the offense, going 2-for-2 with two doubles and four RBI. Chloe Rolling finished 2-for-2, while Ella Smith delivered a two-RBI double. Mira Heideman added two hits of her own, going 2-for-2 with a pair of singles, as the Wildcats powered their way to the convincing victory.
Kinsely Johnson, and Lila Weiderstein belted the only two hits for Atlantic.
Carlisle raced off to a quick start in the top of the first innings with seven runs on five hits. Mallie Stoner’s two RBI double, and Kaylee James solo homerun led the way for the visitors. Stoner retired the Trojans in order in the bottom of the first inning and kept its’ foot on the gas with eight more runs on nine hits in the second frame sending 14 batters to the plate. Johnson broke Stoner’s four straight put outs with a single in the bottom of the second inning, and Lila Wiederstein stroked a single in the bottom of the second.
Carlisle added another run in the third, another in the fourth, and Krambeck retired the side in the bottom of the fourth for the win.
The Trojans now 8-1 will face Exira-EHK-Audubon at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, and Riverside at 11:00 a.m. The Trojans start the week on Monday hosting Lewis Central in a doubleheader starting at 5:00 p.m.
