(Waterloo) The Atlantic boys golf team tees off this morning at the Class 3A State Golf Tournament at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo. Atlantic is one of 12 teams competing for the state championship alongside MOC-Floyd Valley, Des Moines Christian, Knoxville, Marion, North Polk, Ballard, Pella, Solon, Independence, Okoboji, and Spencer.
The Class 3A field looks fairly balanced. Atlantic enters the tournament after shooting a 300 at sectionals and a 292 at districts. Des Moines Christian posted a 308 sectional score and followed with a 280 at districts, while Knoxville carded a 290 at sectionals and a 286 at districts.
MOC-Floyd Valley recorded a 300 at sectionals and a 284 at districts. Marion finished with a 303 at sectionals and a 297-district score. North Polk shot a 301 at sectionals and 314 at districts, Ballard had a 304 sectional total and 316 at districts, while Pella posted a 320 at sectionals and a 310 at districts.
