(Glenwood) The 3A State Qualifying Track and Field Meet got underway at 4:00 p.m. with the field events. The running events started at 4:45 p.m. The top two finishers in each event will automatically qualify for the State Track and Field Meet in Des Moines on May 21, 22, and 23. The next eight times, distances, and heights across the state will round out the list of state qualifiers. The eight teams competing at this 3A meet include, ADM, Atlantic, Carroll, Creston, Des Moines-Christian, Glenwood, Harlan, and Denison-Schleswig,
In the girl’s competition, ADM claimed the 800 Sprint Medley Relay title as Peyton Standley, Claire Priestly, Isabelle Book, and Brecken Morse crossed the finish line first in 1:49.01. Glenwood followed closely behind with Kelsey Hughes, Megan Hughes, Olivia Wright, and Caitlin Hebel placing second in 1:49.60. In the 3000 meters, Glenwood’s Grace Berglund earned the championship with a winning time of 11:05.40, while Elyse Erzen of Des Moines Christian finished second in 11:23.58. Glenwood captured the 4×800 meter relay championship as Haylee Hughes, Jordyn Schulte, Grace Berglund, and Caitlin Hebel combined for a winning time of 9:46.76. ADM finished close behind in second place with Vivian Novelli, Elliott Von Roden, Allie Eggleston, and Clara Uthe posting a time of 9:48.94.
