(Oakland, IA) — Riverside Golf teams are like everybody else — waiting on the weather so they can get out on the course. The Bulldogs have amazing numbers this year — 18 Boys and 11 Girls are out this spring. Head Coach Mitch Rice says the boys have some big goals and will led by last year’s conference champ Junior James McCready who Rice says loves to play golf
Rice says that Juniors Nathan Smith and Peyton Amdor will push McCready to give the Bulldogs a solid trio and each has the potential to break 40 for 9 holes every time they are on the course. Juniors Austin Zimmerman and Bennett Hough will be the #4 and #5 and Rice says there will be competition for the 6th spot. Rice says this team wants to go to state and how the back end of the line up does could determine the outcome
On the girls side, Junior Kayci Perkins battled injuries last year and Rice says if she is healthy, she is the clear number one and understands the game
Senior Jadyn Beckman and Sophomore Ashley Kelley will be either two or three and Junior Sydney Somers is probably the number four while Freshman Abe Schechinger has impressed Rice early.
Barring any re-scheduled cancelled meets, the boys will open at a tournament this Saturday hosted by CAM while the girls will open on Monday, March 13 against Logan Magnolia.
