(Cass County) Healthy Cass County will host a free “Make It OK” mental health training on Monday, April 13 at 12:00 PM at the Cass County Community Center. This training is provided by the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative and is open to all community members.
As May approaches—recognized nationally as Mental Health Awareness Month—this training aims to increase understanding of mental health, reduce stigma, and encourage supportive conversations throughout the community.
Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, and everyone has a role in creating a more understanding and supportive environment. The “Make It OK” campaign focuses on raising awareness, normalizing conversations, and equipping individuals with tools to support themselves and others.
During this one-hour session, participants will:
- Build a deeper understanding of mental health and stigma
- Learn how culture, identity, and lived experiences shape mental health
- Explore the importance of connection, belonging, and community
- Gain simple strategies to support personal mental health and help others
- Develop skills to have caring, supportive conversations
- Increase confidence in navigating mental health resources
This presentation is also a required first step for those interested in becoming a certified “Make It OK” Ambassador.
The training is free and open to the public. Community members of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend and help build a more supportive Cass County.
Community members are encouraged to attend and share their perspectives. Attendees are also welcome to extend this invitation to others who promote, produce, or sell locally sourced food.
