(Anita, IA) — The weather has not cooperated with the CAM golf opener — the Cougars had two meets canceled this week so Head Coach Joe Wollum will use the weekend to get his golfers ready for the course on Monday. The girls have enough members to field a team this year while the boys went to state last year but lost four key seniors including All Stater Chase Jahde. Because of that, Wollum says that this year’s team feels like something to prove
The Cougars do return Junior Braxton Dennis who is line to be CAM’s number one says Wollum
Others in the line up include Junior Madden Cary who returns; Junior Kason Calhoun is dual sporting with track but golf is his priority; Freshmen Erik Almelien and Kamden Wahlert will be in the mix; and there is Juniors Kayden Winther and Carson McKee who is also dual sporting but track is their first sport. Wollum also says that Senior Creighton Kinzie will get a chance to be in the line up as well.
On the girls side, there are seven players out this spring — Senior Kaitlyn Platt will be the number one player for the second year in a row and Wollum says she is getting smarter with her game especially in the short game
Other players include Junior Hallie Keeler is a veteran; Sophomores Kelsey Platt, Brooklynne Zimmerline, and Nadia South are returners plus Sophomore Kendra Nelson is new to the game and Freshman Kambry Langfelt came out as well.
CAM will open their season on Monday with a conference meet at Woodbine with Ar-We-Va, Boyer Valley, Exira EHK, and Glidden Ralston.
