(Council Bluffs) The Council Bluffs Police Department says speed may have played a factor in the fatal crash in Council Bluffs.
According to the Council Bluffs Police Department, the crash occurred at around 1:37 p.m. at the 45-mile marker on Interstate 29. The Iowa Department of Transportation found the vehicle in Pony Creek, between the north and southbound bridges. Authorities identified the driver as 39-year-old Alex Foster, Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska.
The initial investigation indicates the vehicle had been traveling northbound on I-29, crossed into the southbound lanes, struck a bridge abutment, and ended up in the
creek below. The sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Council Bluffs Police Department Traffic unit is investigating the crash.
