(Adair Co.) The Adair County Board of Supervisors signed a proclamation recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
During the board’s meeting on Tuesday, Val Cameron, representing the Dallas County Children’s Advocacy Council—which serves Adair, Dallas, Madison, and Warren counties—spoke about ongoing efforts to prevent child abuse and assist families in need. Cameron noted the organization has a $90,000 grant that funds sexual abuse prevention programs as well as home visitation services across the four-county region.
Cameron provided some statistics to the board….
Cameron said several activities are planned throughout April in Adair County to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month and encourage community involvement.
As part of the recognition, the Adair County Board of Supervisors approved placing a yard sign and blue pinwheels on the courthouse lawn. The pinwheels serve as a national symbol of child abuse prevention and represent the importance of ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all children.
