(Adair Co.) The Adair County Board of Supervisors held another discussion at Tuesday’s meeting on vacating a portion of 115th Street south of Stuart.
Adair County Engineer Nick Kauffman had previously explained that the east half of the road is dirt, and the landowners are in favor of vacating it. Last week, the Supervisors held a public hearing on the matter and heard from others who wish to see the road remain open. At that time, the board approved a motion not to vacate that portion of 115th Street and to revisit the matter at a later date.
On Tuesday, the board again heard requests to pursue closing that portion of the roadway.
Supervisor Jodie Hoadley reiterated that she was in favor of vacating that portion of the road for safety reasons.
Supervisor Matt Wedemeyer said that at first he did not think the road should be closed, but changed his mind after taking a closer look at it.
There was a shared sentiment that if this road was not fully graveled, then it should just be closed.
Following a lengthy discussion, the board decided to set a date for a public hearing on the matter at next week’s meeting.
