(Des Moines) The National Weather Service is reporting a marginal risk for severe storms late tonight.
Southwest Iowa is under a marginal risk for severe weather. Central and eastern Iowa is under a slight risk for severe storms. Large hail and damaging wind gusts are the main hazards.
Near record heat and elevated fire weather conditions are forecast for southern and western Iowa today.
Additional precipitation chances exist throughout the week and the upcoming weekend. The timing and the potential for severe weather will be better determined in the coming days.
Spotter activation may be needed tonight and Tuesday.
