(Harlan, IA) — There is reason to be optimistic for the Harlan Boys Track and Field team — numbers are up says Head Coach Sam Brummer. There are 35 guys out for the team and last Thursday in a chilly meet in Carroll, the 4×200 team of Sam Shields, Foxx Argotsinger, Landon Nihsen and Hagen Sorensen finished in first place with a time of 1:34.33. The same foursome will also likely run the 4×100 says Brummer with Argotsinger the new one to the team
Junior Jeffrey Gross made it to the state meet last year in the 3200; he finished 2nd place in the one mile and two mile last Thursday in Carroll and Brummer says it was a good starting point for him to get back to the blue oval
Other long distance runners include Junior Erik Heslink who battled injuries last year plus Freshman Brogen Schechinger. Brummer says the Cyclones are deeper in the sprints from 400 down
In the field events, Harlan has Edgardo Quintanilla and Jaspyr Nielsen in the throws and Ayden Redmond is the long jumper.
Harlan will be in Denison competing tomorrow night.
