(Ames, IA) — Four players from Iowa St. have committed to return to Ames next season — Blake Buchanan, Jamarion Batemon, Killyan Toure and Dominykas Pleta as reported first by the Quad City Times. Milan Momcilovic, however, has not made up his mind about his future.
Iowa St. will definitely lose seniors Joshua Jefferson, Tamin Lipsey, and Nate Heise plus Eric Mulder and Dominick Nelson.
Momcilovic established himself as one of the best shooters in the country, averaging 16.9 points per game. The junior made 136 three pointers in 280 attempts for an incredible 48.6 percent. After Friday’s loss to Tennessee, Momcilovic told reporters, “I do not know what’s next. I’ll obviously meet with T.J (Otzelberger)., my family and my agent and just see what’s the best decision for me going forward.”
Toure is a freshman who started all 37 games this season and could move to the point guard position with the graduation of Lipsey. The Frenchman became one of Iowa St.’s best defenders down the stretch and averaged 8.6 points per game.
Buchanan is a Junior transfer from Virginia who started all but one game this year. For the season, he averaged 8.5 ppg and 5.7 rebounds a game.
Pleta is a freshman from Germany who started just one game and averaged 4.4 ppg.
Batemon is a freshman from Milwaukee who saw his minutes go up off the bench and averaged 6.6 ppg.
Also currently on the ISU roster is Junior Cade Kelderman from Waukee, IA; Freshman Xzavion Mitchell from Oshkosh, WI; Freshman Anthony Wise from Milwaukee; and Junior Mason Williams, a transfer from Eastern Washington.
Iowa St. has four committed freshmen recruits to come in for next season — 6’5″ Guard Christian Wiggins, 6’8″ F/C Jackson Kiss, 6’10” Dorian Rinaldo-Komlan and 6’4″ Guard Yusef Gray.
