(Corning, IA) — Southwest Valley Boys Track and Field has had a strong history in the high jump and this year will be no different. Last season, Walker Bissell now a Junior and Gavin Wetzel now a Senior both qualified for state in the event and both tied for 17th. They are both back this year and Head Coach Jason Hults says its a luxury to have especially when you are trying to score team points
Hults says they have another high jumper in Freshman Jayden Dennis who will have a hard time cracking the varsity line up.
Bissell and Wetzel are also hurdlers and part of the Shuttle Hurdle relay that made it to state last year — Dennis could join them this year along with Senior Wyatt Mendenhall who also runs in the 4×100 and finished 7th at the 400 Hurdles at state last year.
Hults is also confident about his sprints this year led by Junior Brody Crozier
Hults is also anxious to see his 4×100 and 4×200 relays this year
Southwest Valley will open their outdoor season tomorrow in Bedford.
