(Washington D.C.) — Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley is trying to improve the communication of government agencies. In his remarks to Congress this week, Grassley says one of his long running oversight projects is making sure the Office of National Security talks with the Department of Health and Human Services. The ONS is supposed to talk to Health and Human Services about health concerns that become national security concerns. Grassley says that he and his staff are making progress
In addition Grassley has advanced the Combating Illicit Xylazine Act with Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), by a vote of 19-3.
Xylazine is a highly toxic veterinary tranquilizer that has been increasingly used as a cheap cutting agent for fentanyl and other narcotics nationwide. The Combating Illicit Xylazine Act would classify xylazine as a Schedule III drug under the Controlled Substances Act, while protecting its legitimate use by veterinarians, farmers and ranchers.
