(Area) Gusty southwest winds, low RH, warming temperatures, and dry fuels will result in critical fire weather conditions. The National Weather Service does not recommend burning of any type.
A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. today for all of Iowa. Southwest winds ranging from 20 to 25 miles per hour, gusting to 35 to 45 miles per hour, along with low humidity, could cause fires to develop and spread rapidly.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
