(Corning, IA) — Southwest Valley Girls Track and Field did not qualify anybody for the state meet last year but Head Coach Jason Hults believes they can change that this year. The Timberwolves have 21 girls out for track this spring — seven of them are returning letterwinners and there were only 10 last year and several of them were dual sporters. Hults says because of their depth they are not strong or weak in any one area
There are two seniors — Alyssa Pearson and Hailey Randall. Pearson is a hurdler who came close to qualifying for state in the 400 Hurdles. Randall, meanwhile, is a “jack of all trades” and there are only two events she has not competed in (3000 and High Jump) but Randall is primarily a sprinter. Hults is also excited about two newcomers
For relays, Hults believes the Distance Medley will be a priority to start the season. In the field events, Hults says he does not have a long jumper — yet but has options in the other events
Southwest Valley will open their outdoor season on Tuesday, March 31 at Bedford.
