(Anita, IA) — CAM Boys Track and Field Head Coach Drew Ticknor is optimistic about having a big season. There are 20 guys on the team with a big freshman class but also experience returning and those numbers will allow Ticknor to spread everybody around on the relays. Overall, Ticknor believes they have talent in a variety of areas
The only senior on the team is Collin Bower and Ticknor likes that he can plug him in different races
Bower will join Carson McKee, Kayden Winther and Cohen McCann in the sprints — Ticknor says Freshman Seth Williams has looked good as well. Zach Kauffman is the number one runner in the 800 and the mile — there is also Colton Akers, Ethan Chaney and Dustin McCurdy. McKee will be back in the 400 Hurdles and just missed qualifying for the state meet at districts; Bower also runs the 100 Hurdles.
In the field events, Ticknor says he has options there except the high jump
Throwers include Logan and Lucas Schrier, James McLain, Drew Barber, Jace Hardisty, and Erik Almelien all will be in the shot put and discus but the Cougars can only have two in each event compete at the varsity level in each meet so the competition will be strong.
CAM opens their outdoor season on Tuesday, March 31 at Bedford.
