(Council Bluffs, IA) — Atlantic’s Boys and Girls Freshmen and Sophomores went to Council Bluffs to compete in a JV track and field meet hosted by Lewis Central and came away with 11 first place wins, including five relays. The girls won the meet with 127 points ahead of Glenwood with 115 with 7 teams competing. The boys finished in third place — LC won with 150 points, Glenwood 2nd at 138 and the Trojans with 129.5 points.
The boys 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800 relays all earned wins. The 4×200 with Dominic Elings, Benton McLaren, Zander Killion and Ashton Rutherford ran a time of 1:38.33. The 4×400 with Bentley Staiert, McLaren, Quincy Robinson and Landon Hagen ran a time of 3:55.29. The 4×800 with Staiert, Thomas Engler, Hagen and Mason Betts ran a time of 9:18.26.
Other boys in first place included Betts in the 400 at 55.43 seconds and Betts in the 1600 at 4:59.44. Hagen was 2nd in the long jump and 200; Xander Killion was 2nd in the 100; and Staiert in the 800.
The girls Sprint Medley and 4×200 relays both earned wins. Running the Sprint Med was Aiza Jones, Nellee Ritter, Braeleigh Hass, and Ximena Mendez-Cordero at 2:03.84. The 4×200 consisted of Ritter, Callie Rudy, Emma Meyer and Brylee Lamp with a time of 2:03.73.
Other girls in first place included Hass in the 100 (14.35); Jones in the 100 Hurdles (18.58); Mendez-Cordero in the 800 (2:47.03); Reese Harlan in the Long Jump; and Gabrielle Engler in the 1500 (5:45.19)
