(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys’ tennis team has an open lineup this season, following the graduation of five players. These athletes participated in more than 300 matches last spring, contributing to an 8-4 dual record. According to Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott, the only returning starter from last year is Rayden Wheeler, a senior who played the number six position.
Wheeler finished the 2025 campaign with a 13-7 record in singles and 6-3 in doubles.
Despite the open spots, the cupboard is not bare.
Coach McDermott mentions numerous other prospects, including a senior new to the lineup, but not new to the sport.
Coach McDermott mentions several other players that could figure into the mix, such as Kayden Newman, a junior; senior Fletcher Toft, a sophomore; Hudson Brock, a junior; Michael Hocamp, a junior; Knox McCalla, a senior; Monte Smith, a senior; and Liam Spencer.
The Trojans open the season at Kuemper on April 4.
