(Atlantic) The Iowa Board of Education Examiners has acknowledged the voluntary surrender of Jesse McCann’s teaching license following his termination from the Atlantic School District over allegations of inappropriate conduct with students.
McCann held a Master Educator License with multiple endorsements, including K–8 Instructional Strategist I, K–6 Elementary Classroom, 5–12 Instructional Strategist I, and K–12 Athletic Coach. The Board found probable cause that McCann violated the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics.
Under Board rules, an educator may voluntarily surrender their license by waiving the right to a formal hearing and agreeing to a permanent revocation. On February 27, McCann filed a “Surrender of Practitioner License and Waiver of Formal Hearing” form. The Board accepted the voluntary surrender on March 13.
As a result, all licenses issued to McCann and his privilege to practice in Iowa are permanently revoked with no possibility of reinstatement.
No criminal charges have been filed in connection with the allegations at this time.
