(Oakland, IA) — Riverside Girls Track and Field is preparing for a strong season. The Bulldogs had three relays that finished in third place at last year’s state meet but on Friday, the 4×400 and 4×800 relays won their races at an indoor meet at Concordia University in Nebraska. Sophia Fenner also won the shot put and was on both relays. Head Coach Jared Hoffman says she is just a jack of all trades type of athlete
The 4×400 team has two returning although Bentley Rone did not run on Friday with Arabella Singleton, Meadow Dalby, Azlyn Clark and Fenner on the track. The 4×800 was 5th at state with Rone, Fenner and Schnack returning but Rone and Schnack did not run Friday with Azlyn Clark, Dalby and Bailey Richardson joining Fenner. All this means that Hoffman has options with the ultimate goal getting to the top of the podium at state
Last year Arabella Singleton made it to state in the 100 but did not qualify for the finals — she finished 4th in the 60 meter finals on Friday. Bentley Rone was 18th at state in the 400 Hurdles and will be looking to get on the medal stand. Hoffman says he wants as many Bulldogs on that stand at the end of the season
Also for the Bulldogs in Friday’s indoor meet, Bailey Richardson was 3rd in the 800; Danika Feigenbutz was 3rd in the 3200; and Aubrey Lopez was 4th in the 400.
Riverside will open their outdoor season at Griswold on Thursday, April 2.
