(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC Boys Track and Field will have high expectations this season but have one big injury to start with. Senior Luke Brincks hurt his ankle at the IATC indoor meet last week and Head Coach Jacob Lacey is not sure how long he will be out. With Brincks on the sidelines, Senior Brexton Schneider will be the leader. He was a member of last year’s shuttle hurdle team that won a state title and Lacey says he will be one of the favorites in the 110 Hurdles this year after just missing the finals last year
The Chargers did lose Tate Fever on the shuttle hurdle team and Lacey has a replacement lined up with Morgun Nolte and Tommy Skram returning as well
Lacey likes his depth in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays. Preston Kent will lead the long distance runs and Lacey would like to put together a 4×800 team.
In the field events, Collin Stringham will try the high jump; Ryan Martens is back in the long jump after going 19 feet last year and Lacey feels he can get to 20 feet. Lacey is also excited about his throwers starting with Jack Sheeder in the shot put
AC/GC will open their outdoor season on March 31 at Earlham
