Alice Beaman, 80, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her home near Greenfield. Celebration of Life Services will 10:30 a.m., March 28, 2026, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. The burial will be at Greenfield Cemetery. Reverend Doctor Keith Schwietzer will officiate. Services will be livestreamed at a link under her obituary. Open visitation will be 2-7 p.m., March 27, 2026 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the family to be determined. Alice Ann (Blohm) Beaman was born November 27, 1945, to Harvey and Marie (Juel) Blohm in Audubon, Iowa. She was baptized on September 8th and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on January 29, 1961. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2026, at her farm home near Greenfield, Iowa at the age of 80.
Alice grew up on a farm in Audubon, Iowa and attended country school, Gray School and then graduated from Audubon High School in 1964. She loved learning and made lifelong friends in school that she always kept in touch with over the years.
Alice was united in marriage with George Beaman on July 2, 1966, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. The Lord blessed them with two children, Lisa and Bryan. She gave them unconditional love and sacrificed for them to have a better life. This shows in their faith for Jesus as well as in the faith of her grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Alice’s faith in God was always a part of who she was no matter the circumstances. Alice’s mom shared God’s love and teachings with her which guided her throughout her life.
Alice worked at Banker’s Trust Company in Des Moines while George was drafted to the Vietnam War as a medic paratrooper. He returned home in April 1967 and they moved to Lawton, OK where they were stationed at Fort Sill for 6 months. Later, that year they bought their first home in Perry, Iowa. Alice worked at Dallas County Hospital for three years. In the spring of 1975, they purchased their 160-acre farm near Greenfield, Iowa. She loved being able to stay home with Lisa and Bryan and raise them in the country like she enjoyed as a child. Alice took pleasure in gardening and canning delicious vegetables. She loved planting and growing flowers each year and entered them in the county fair winning many ribbons. Alice looked forward to seeing cardinals visit the farm each year as they were her favorite birds.
In 1988, Alice started working at Rose Acre Farms in Winterset, Iowa. She retired in 2011 and looked forward to going on trips to visit her daughter and family, plus traveling to Hawaii, Branson, Missouri, San Antonio, Texas as well as a cruise to the Bahamas. She especially enjoyed the time she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made sure that each time was a memory they would always recall and cherish.
Alice was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield, Iowa and was very active in the LWML Women’s Organization, Martha Circle and Friends in Faith Bible Study. She was also active in the Greenfield Garden Club, Girls Nite Out (GNO) and Today’s Women. She valued all of the special time with her friends.
Alice enjoyed making and eating yummy desserts, gardening, traveling, playing cards and spending time with her family. Her faith was a shining light to many as her trust in God’s unconditional love and grace was evident. Her ability to forgive throughout her life was a great gift from God.
She will be missed dearly by George, her husband of 59 years; daughter Lisa (Doug) Harsh of Prescott Valley, Arizona; son Bryan Beaman of Greenfield, Iowa. Grandchildren, Logan Harsh and Shayla (Matthew) Walsh and children, Riverlyn, Judah and Summer; brother Earl (Carolyn) Blohm; sister Janet (Pete) Hendrickson; sister Julie (Mike) Stevens; sister-in-law Louise (Julius) Bernal, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Marie (Juel) Blohm; sister, Barbara (Barbie) Blohm and in-laws, Orris and Edna Beaman.
Our family would especially like to thank the hospice staff and friends that cared for Alice in her last weeks. Thank you for all the flowers, prayers and acts of kindness shown to us in our time of sorrow. God Bless You All.
