(Oklahoma City, OK) — Nobody can ever say that Nebraska did not win a game in the Big Dance. The 4th seeded Cornhuskers cruised past #13 seed Troy 76-47 in a South Region first round game on Thursday.
Trailing 15-12 in the first half, Pryce Sandfort nailed a three pointer for the Huskers and it began a run where the Iowa transfer was unconscious from the outside. Sandfort was 5 of 7 from three point land in the first half that sparked a 20-4 Nebraska run and the Huskers led 41-25 at the half.
Sandfort finished with a game high 23 points in his first ever NCAA Tournament game — he finished 7 of 12 from three point land and added 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.
Nebraska (27-6) also had 13 points from Braden Frager and Jamarques Lawrence and Rienk Mast added 11. The Huskers were 14 of 39 on their threes and only turned it over 6 times.
Troy (22-12) only had one player in double figures — Victor Valdes had 14 points. The Trojans shot just 28 percent form the field and 8 of 28 on their threes. Plus, Troy had 17 turnovers.
Nebraska advances to the 2nd round with their first NCAA Tournament win in school history — they will play either Vanderbilt or McNeese on Saturday.
