Harry Alan Porter, the son of Hugh Charles and Greta Lorraine (Tye) Porter, was born October 21, 1945, in Atlantic, IA. Harry died March 16, 2026, at his home, east of Griswold, IA, at the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 26 days.
Harry attended school at Griswold, graduating with the class of 1964. After graduation, he served in the Army National Guard for several years. On October 28, 1972, Harry was united in marriage to Kathleen Louise Konfrst. They lived east of Griswold. Harry drove a truck for Hansen Elevator before going to work for Cass County in the roads department. After retirement, Harry remained at home until the time of his death.
Harry had been involved in FFA and 4-H. He enjoyed helping his farming buddies and going to tractor pulls around the midwest, and had even attended the Winter Nationals.
Harry is preceded in death by his wife Kathy on April 9, 1994; his parents; his infant brother Richard; and his great grandparents.
He is survived by his daughters: Kyla Amos and husband Michael of Grant, IA, Laura Ritter and husband Severin of Griswold, IA, and Sarah Porter and husband Matt of Exira, IA; his grandchildren: Clay and wife Erin, Jocelyn and fiancé Drake, Conlan, Gage, Emma, Naudia and husband Luis, Tyson and significant other Nevaeh, and Jacob; great grandchildren: Hallie, Marlie, Leonel, and Mateo; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 5:30 until 7:30, at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the Flint Cemetery, west of Griswold. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
