(Elk Horn, IA) — Hard times hit Exira EHK boys basketball this past season — first year Head Coach Jackson Ratcliff did not earn his first career win until January 26 and that was the only victory for the Spartans. Ratcliff says the team persevered during the hard season
One highlight was the play of Senior Austin Rasmussen who averaged 16.9 points per game and hit for 64 three pointers which led the Rolling Valley Conference , shooting a solid 34 percent from beyond the arc
The Spartans have two starters returning — Sophomore Blake Nelson (6.0 ppg) and Junior Anthony Young (2.9 ppg, 5.7 rbg). Other players that will be in the mix for the rotation next year include Juniors Jack Lassek, Josiah King, John Ty and Cooper Paulsen plus Freshmen Kason Johnson, Trent Young, Chet Boysen and Thomas Petersen who missed time with an injury. Ratcliff needs the boys to get in the gym and shoot, shoot, shoot — he does something to build on from this season
Other seniors for Exira EHK besides Rasmussen are starters Owen Juhl and Bryce Brabham.
