(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC’s Senior Joe Crawford has been selected to play in the Iowa Shrine Bowl — an all star football game played every summer. Crawford will be the South roster along with Atlantic’s Brock Goodrich.
Crawford led AC/GC in rushing with 1,298 yards on 106 carries, averaging 12.2 yards per carry with 18 rushing TD. Despite the Chargers notorious for not throwing the ball, Crawford caught 7 passes for 160 yards and 3 TD — AC/GC threw the ball only 23 time all season and their were only 15 total completions. Crawford did throw one of those passes and completed it for a 31 yard TD.
On defense, the senior played in the secondary and had 15.5 tackles, 10 solo tackles and 1 TFL. He made two interceptions and recovered one fumble.
Crawford also make his mark on special teams with a punt return and kickoff return for a touchdown. He had 15 punt returns total for the season for 357 yards and an average return of 23.8 yards. His longest return was 50 yards. Crawford’s kickoff return for a TD was 99 yards to open the playoff game against Hawarden West Sioux.
The Iowa Shrine Bowl is on July 26 at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
