(Neola, IA) — The last time that Tri Center boys basketball has made it to the state tournament was 2008 and the Trojans had high hopes of doing it this season. Hull Western Christian dashed those hopes in the substate finals ending their season at 21-3. Still, the Trojans shared the Western Iowa Conference title with Treynor and Head Coach Chad Harter said the season was a success
The Trojans lose a lot to graduation — 8 total seniors including starters Tyler Baatz, Aiden Osbahr, Cael Witt and Nolan Kunze. Baatz provided Tri Center a dominant 1-2 scoring punch with AJ Harder and Coach Chad Harder says he flew under the radar and worked hard to be a good player
There is no doubt that AJ Harder’s name will be read when the All State teams are announced — the Junior averaged 20.5 points per game, plus lead the team in assists at 6.6 and steals at 3.4 per game. Harder will have to carry a heavier load next as Jaylen Johnson is the only other player with significant playing time returning. However, Harder says do not count out Tri Center — there is plenty of talent coming back
Other seniors leaving the Trojans include Chase Newland, Brooks Andersen, Brody Wiedner and Trent Huebner.
