(Red Oak) Red Oak Fire Fighters responded to two fires on Saturday.
At 4:41 p.m., the Emerson, Red Oak, and Elliott Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of 150th Street and A Avenue for a reported field fire. Upon arrival, crews observed that a burning brush pile had spread into a harvested cornfield. Two tractors equipped with disks were already operating in the field to help slow the fire’s spread. Fire crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control and extinguish it. No injuries were reported.

Earlier in the day the Red Oak Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of West 5th street (alley) for a reported UTV on fire. A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputy arrived and advised the ATV was fully engulfed in fire. Firefighters arrived to a fully engulfed UTV with minimal fire spread into a northern yard. Crews were able to make a quick knockdown of the fire. No injuries reported. UTV is a total loss. All Fire Apparatus was back in service at approximately 12:05 p.m.
