(Lincoln, Nebraska) The University of Iowa men’s basketball team lost to No. 9 Nebraska, 84–75, in overtime Sunday at Pinnacle Bank Arena, finishing the regular season 20–11 overall and 10–10 in conference play.
Iowa led early behind junior Kael Combs, who scored seven of the Hawkeyes’ first nine points, but trailed 30–26 at halftime. Nebraska built an 11-point second-half lead before Iowa rallied late. Combs scored five straight points to cut the deficit to one, then hit a game-tying 3-pointer with two seconds left to force overtime at 70–70.
Redshirt freshman Cooper Koch tied the game at 75 with a 3-pointer in overtime, but Nebraska closed the game on a 9–0 run.
Combs and Koch led Iowa with 18 points each, with Combs setting a career high and Koch tying his. Banks added 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Bennett Stirtz had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Iowa shot 48.2% from the field and outrebounded Nebraska 32–29 but committed a season-high 19 turnovers.
