(Massena) The Cass County Conservation Board will host an “Intro to Turkey Hunting” class later this month near Massena.
John Lorenzen, with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources office in Lewis, appeared on the KSOM DNR Radio show on Saturday and said the class will cover turkey scouting, calling equipment, and hunting techniques. The class is scheduled for March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the outdoor classroom near Massena. Lorenzen says no registration is required, and participants should arrive on time on the day of the class.
Micah Lee, director of the Cass County Conservation Board, will instruct the class.
In other news, Cass County Conservation is currently looking for summer help. Lorenzen says there are two open positions. One opening is for a STEM teacher extern, a five-to-six-week paid position. The other is a conservation aide position that lasts all summer and includes maintenance duties and work around Cass County Parks.
Lorenzen also noted that the Cass County Conservation Board recently completed major updates to the shelter house at the Cold Springs campground. He encourages people to stop by to see the improvements and consider renting the shelter house for an event this summer.
