Warren County Sheriff Searching for Missing Woman With Alzheimer’s
(Cumming, IA) — An Iowa woman with Alzheimer’s disease has been missing since Tuesday afternoon. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says it needs help finding Cheryl Anderson, who was last seen leaving her home in Cumming just after 4 p.m. She was driving a white Toyota Sienna Minivan, which was spotted by a license plate reader in Clive shortly afterward. A photo of the vehicle and Anderson is available on the County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. The sheriff says she hasn’t driven in several years and likely doesn’t know where she is. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has issued an Endangered Person Advisory for Anderson.
Sixth Case of Avian Flu In Iowa Detected In Buena Vista County
(Iowa) — A sixth case of bird flu is being reported in Iowa. A backyard flock in Buena [[ BEW-nah ]] Vista County has been diagnosed with the highly pathogenic avian influenza, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. While the CDC believes the threat to the general public remains low, bird flu can be fatal to domestic birds such as chickens and turkeys.
Welcome Home Ceremonies Scheduled Saturday For 575 Iowa National Guard Soldiers
(Iowa) — Almost 600 Iowa National Guard soldiers deployed in the Middle East will soon be met with a hero’s welcome. Welcome Home ceremonies are being held on Saturday in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. The Iowa Guard says the soldiers are returning to the US after being stationed in Iraq and Syria. The ceremonies come just days after six soldiers based in Des Moines were killed in Kuwait. The returning soldiers were all assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division. Additional Welcome Home ceremonies are scheduled March 12.
