(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC finished their girls basketball season with a 17-5 record but had an early exit in the playoffs when they got upset by arch rival Panorama. Still there are a lot of teams that would love to win 17 games and Head Coach Brad Baudler says that post season disappointment does not define the team
The Chargers lose three senior starters including leading scorer Cam Richter (16.9 ppg, 6.2 rbg) plus Karlie Kautzky (2.6 ppg) and Becca Littler (4.9 pp) and Savannah Akers off the bench. Baudler says each one of them brought something to the program
AC/GC has plenty coming back — Juniors Meranda Gruber (7.8 ppg) and Stella Largent (11.4) were dependable starters; Juniors Olivia Mahaffey (5.4 ppg) and Nora Langgard (1.5 ppg) should move into the starting line up; and Freshmen Kailee Kautzky (3.0 ppg) and Jerzee Huss (2.5 ppg) should be in line for bigger roles according to Baudler. He does say he wants to emphasize defense in the off season
Baudler also says that there are other young players who have approached him about what they need to do to get more minutes in the rotation.
