(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Fair Board made its annual report to the supervisors at their weekly meeting on Tuesday.
The Fair Board did not ask for any more money in the budget than what they requested last year — $8,000 for 4H and $20,000 for improvements to the fair ground. Vice President of Fair Board Bryce Arganbright says they have been working on several things including some improvements to the show ring which is now completed
Arganbright says they also used funds from the supervisors and others to fix some sidewalks, add some infield lighting, fixed utility poles, they sold their John Deere tractor and bought a new skid loader. He says that this year the goal is to upgrade the kitchen in the events center
Arganbright also says the horse barn needs stalls and they have raised $6300 so far with the total cost somewhere between $20 -$25,000. Arganbright says attendance at the fair has not gone up but has not gone down either
The supervisors approved the request for funds by the Fair Board by a 5-0 vote.
