(Atlantic) The Small Business Payments Alliance (SBPA) is connecting with local businesses in Southwest Iowa to ensure that the electronic payments system continues to deliver for American small businesses. In partnership with the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce, SBPA will host an informative roundtable discussion focused on the future of electronic payments and the potential impact of federal policy changes.
Iowa Small Business Roundtable: Understanding Our Electronic Payment System & Policy Changes will take place on Friday, February 27, from Noon to 1:00 PM at the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce, 102 Chestnut Street, Atlantic, IA. Lunch will be provided.
Small businesses across Iowa depend on credit cards and electronic payment systems to serve customers, access capital, and manage day-to-day operations. However, proposed federal legislation—particularly the Credit Card Competition Act—could significantly reshape the current payments landscape. Advocates have raised concerns that these changes may weaken fraud protections, reduce access to credit, and diminish the rewards programs that many small businesses and their customers rely on.
During the session, SBPA leaders will outline what is at stake, explain how the electronic payments system works, and provide updates on federal policy discussions. As a national coalition, SBPA works to give small business owners a unified voice in Washington, advocating for policies that maintain a secure, innovative, and reliable payments system.
“This roundtable is an opportunity for local business owners to learn more about the policy changes being debated, ask questions, and connect with fellow entrepreneurs who share similar concerns,” organizers said. “Small business voices play a critical role in shaping policies that impact Iowa’s economic future.”
