(Oakland, IA) — It was a successful season for Riverside Boys Wrestling and Head Coach Casey Conover. The Bulldogs sent seven to the state tournament and earned three medals including a state championship from Junior Drew Anderson. The 138 final was not even close with Anderson building a huge lead and winning by fall at 1:26 to finish the season 49-1. Conover says that Anderson did not lose focus for one second with his eye on the prize
Conover did say that Senior Gaven Hackett suffered a torn ACL at the state tournament and will require surgery. The other senior for Riverside was Jaxon Gordon who finished with a 7th place medal and 50-12 overall and Conover says he leaves a great legacy at Riverside
The other medalist was Freshman Max Shanno who was 7th at 165; he and fellow freshman state qualifier Mason Houser who did not medal have a lot of future potential. Juniors Rex Shanno and Kingston Carrigan both made it to state but did not medal and Conover says they should be motivated next season. While Conover is proud of his team’s achievements this year, he is already starting to think ahead
Riverside also loses Seniors Jack Branan, Bradyn Comstock, Keegan Smith, Keegan Allensworth, Jackson Allen and Wyatt Bell.
