(Shelby Co.) At 12:15 Sunday morning, the Shelby County Communications Center was informed of a snowmobile accident along Highway 191 south of the City of Portsmouth.
Responders from Portsmouth Fire and Rescue, Shelby County Ambulance Service and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find a snowmobile and rider submerged in a creek. The rider was removed from the icy water where he was pronounced deceased.
The rider was identified as 64-year-old Scott Gau from Portsmouth. Gau was transported to the State Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny where an autopsy will be conducted.
