(Des Moines) Winter weather is returning to portions of the state starting today, according to the National Weather Service.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Pottawattamie and Harrison Counties until midnight. Heavy snowfall of 4 to 7 inches is forecast, with winds gusting to 35 miles per hour.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for southwest, west central, and central Iowa until midnight. Forecasters are predicting 4 inches of snow with gusts up to 40 miles per hour.
