(Greenfield, IA) — Nodaway Valley will be well represented at the Boys State Wrestling tournament with action beginning Thursday morning from the Casey’s Center in Des Moines, coverage on KSOM.
Five Wolverines will be competing including two time champion Ashton Honnold — there have been 107 three time champs in Iowa history. Not only that but a win for Honnold in the 2nd round (he has a first round bye) will give the senior his 200th career victory and only 29 wrestlers have done that. His Dad and Head Coach Brad Honnold
Honnold is the number one seed at 285 and will face the winner of Lane Meyer of Audubon vs. Jack Sheeder of AC/GC in the 2nd round. Josh Nelson is the three seed at 106 at 41-7, Ty Strode is the seven seed at 132 and is 40-5 and Caleb Christensen is the two seed at 190 pounds and is 51-0 — all three have first round byes. Keyin Steeve is the 18 seed at 144 pounds with a 23-10 record and will face #15 Chance Christensen of Riceville who is 37-8. Overall Honnold is excited to see what his boys can do this week
