(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for all of southwest Iowa except for Mills, Fremont, and Page counties.
Forecasters say a west wind of 25-35 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, along with minimum relative humidity values of 12-22 percent, will cause dangerous fire conditions.
Any fire that develops will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning indicates that critical fire weather conditions are occurring now or will soon. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
