(Guthrie Center, IA) — CAM will visit AC/GC in a Class 1A first round playoff game tonight, coverage on KS 95.7 FM.
The Chargers beat the Cougars in the regular season 69-54 and it was also in Guthrie Center. CAM finished the regular season 9-12 and Collin Bower recently went over 1,000 career points — the Senior leads the team with 15.0 ppg while Gunner Hogueison averages 11 ppg. CAM has a distinct size advantage over AC/GC — that is something they did not take advantage the first time around. Bower can try and post up inside but he is versatile enough he can play away from the basket as well says Head Coach Ian Hunt
AC/GC may not be big but they can run and Hunt says the Cougars will have to play disciplined and not let them get up and down the court
AC/GC finished the regular season at 9-12 but they will tonight shorthanded — 2nd leading scorer Joe Crawford is done for the season with an ankle injury. That puts more pressure on Senior Tommy Skram who leads with 15.7 ppg. Head Coach Lance Kading says they will try to overcome their size disadvantage with their zone defense
In the regular season game, AC/GC hit a lot of threes and CAM committed a lot of turnovers — Kading says that probably will not happen again
CAM visits AC/GC in a Class 1A first round game — the winner will face either Coon Rapids Bayard or Logan Magnolia in the district semifinals. Game time at 7 pm, with Iowa St. basketball on KSOM, coverage on KS 95.7 FM with audio only at westerniowatoday.com
