(Miami, FL) — February is American Heart Month.
Cardiovascular disease, “the silent killer,” is the leading cause of death in the U.S. for men and women. There are more than 680-thousand deaths per year which equates to one in every five deaths.
But heart experts say you can reduce your risk by making lifestyle changes including reducing stress, getting quality sleep, cutting back or eliminating processed foods, sugar and salt and quitting smoking or vaping. They also suggest getting screened regularly for blood pressure and cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
