(Oakland, IA) — Riverside hosted the Class 1A, District #9 tournament on Saturday and walked away with seven district titles that will go to the Casey’s Center next week at the State Tournament. Riverside also won the district title by a half point over Logan Magnolia 206.5 to 206.
Kingston Carrigan won at 126 winning by tech fall and 13-12 in the finals. In the championship match, Carrigan was up 5-0 in the 2nd period and nearly got pinned — giving up 7 near fall points but he got out of the jam with an escape and trailed 11-6 after the 2nd period. He got a takedown to start the third but still trailed 12-10 until getting a takedown with 18 seconds left to win 13-12.
Rex Shanno won at 132 all on decisions — 16-14 in the first round, 7-3 in the semifinals, and 7-1 in the finals.
Drew Anderson was the runner up a year ago and he went 3-0 at 138 to win a district title with 3 tech falls.
Mason Houser won at 150 going 3-0 with 2 tech falls and a 14-2 MD in the finals.
Jaxon Gordon won at 157 winning by fall in 40 seconds in the semifinals and 8-1 in the finals.
Max Shanno was the district champ at 165 going 2-0 with a tech fall and 19-13 win in the finals.
Finally Gaven Hacket finished first place at 190 — in the finals he led 8-3 and held off a reversal and near fall points to get the win.

Elsewhere, CAM did not have anybody advance to state — Brentyn Hoover finished 3rd at 175.
Logan Magnolia will send 8 wrestlers to state — district champs went to Carson Edney at 215, Robert Bothwell at 175, Wade Hawkins at 144, Crosby Yoder at 120, and Brodie Johnsen at 115. Second place finishes went to Landon Thayer at 106, Liam Jenkins at 132 (won in wrestleback at 3:23), and Max Wingert at 138.
Southwest Valley will only send one wrestler to state — Gavin Wetzel lost in the championship match to Max Shanno at 165 19-13 but did not have a wrestle back. Wyatt Shires was 3rd at 132, Carson Cooper was 3rd at 150 and Ben Waddell 3rd at 126.
Lenox will send two to state — Chase O’Riley was 2nd at 144 and Wylie Brokaw 2nd at 150.
