(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys’ wrestling team travels to Glenwood for a Class 2A District wrestling tournament. The top two individuals in each weight class advance to the State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines on February 19, 20, and 21st.
Atlantic Head Coach Tim Duff says this is the point in the season his team has been preparing for throughout the regular season.
Coach Duff says they will field 14 wrestlers on Saturday and that all 14 have a chance.
Coach Duff says everybody is zero-and-zero going into the district tournaments on Saturday. He says the matches to date are a data point of where you were last on the mat.
The teams competing include Atlantic, Clarinda, Creston, Glenwood, Harlan, Red Oak, Shenandoah, and Winterset.
The final seedings and weight classes will not be determined until the seeding meeting, when wrestlers are officially weighed. Often, wrestlers change weight classes up or down to give themselves the best chance in the tournament.
The meet starts at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow at Glenwood. We will have the broadcast live from Glenwood on 95.7 F.M. and audio-streamed on westerniowatoday.com, with reports starting around 10:00 a.m., and live coverage of the finals on Saturday afternoon.
