(Corning, IA) — Southwest Valley Boys Wrestling Head Coach Cody Konecne is optimistic about his team heading into the district meet this Saturday. Konecne says his team is as healthy as it has been all season as they go to Riverside in Class 1A District 9. Wyatt Shires and Brody Crozier both had to miss time this season with injuries both will be on the mat in Oakland — Shires could go either 132 or 138 while Crozier seems set at 144
Gavin Wetzel is 44-8 and ranked 10th at 165 pounds and has not faced Max Shanno of Riverside who is ranked 5th all season — they will be the favorites in their weight class. Griffin Wetzel is 32-18 and could wrestle at either 190 or 215 and Konecne says he is finally healthy
Konecne says Southwest Valley could make some noise in other weight classes too
Others of note for the Timberwolves — Ben Waddell is 36-16 at 126; Hoyt Mendenhall is 19-18 at 120; Brody Sparks is 24-16 and can go at either 138 or 144; Carson Cooper is 32-21 at 150.
We will recap Southwest Valley and all our area wrestlers in the District Wrestling Recap show, Saturday at 6 pm on KSOM.
