The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has released its latest basketball rankings and there are four new number one ranked teams.
In Class 1A, Bishop Garrigan moves into the top spot after previous #1 Newell Fonda lost to Cherokee. The Mustangs slipped to #2 while St. Albert stayed at #3. Exira EHK remains at #7,
There is also a new #1 in Class 2A with Hinton moving up from #3 to take the top spot. The Blackhawks beat previous #1 Rock Valley 62-55 last week. The Rockets slip to #2 and Central Lyon fell to #3. Treynor stayed at #6 while Riverside slipped to #11 after losing in their 2nd meeting to the Cardinals by 40 points.
Mount Vernon moves to #1 in Class 3A after Maquoketa lost to 4A #6 Central DeWitt. Des Moines Christian fell to #3 after losing to 4A #3 Norwalk.
Finally in Class 4A, Bishop Heelan is in the top spot after previously top ranked Clear Creek Amana was upset by 5A #6 Cedar Rapids Washington and also lost to Mount Vernon.
Only Johnston stayed in the #1 ranking in Class 5A.
