(Des Moines) Audubon native Hannah Thygesen is among 20 recruits who recently graduated from the 53rd Department of Public Safety (DPS) Basic Academy and has been assigned to District Five, headquartered in Cherokee.
A 2022 graduate of Audubon High School, Thygesen attended Buena Vista University, where she earned a degree in criminal justice and psychology. Growing up in a family of first responders and experiencing firsthand the effort to help others recover in Greenfield after a tornado inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to community service and making a positive impact in everyday life.
Thygesen will serve District Five, which includes Cherokee, Plymouth, Buena Vista, Woodbury, Ida, and Sac counties.
